Do you have a "fast food" mentality when it comes to your spirituality? Sometimes it feels like we live in a drive-thru society even when it comes to educating yourself about personal growth. Just grab it and go! Unfortunately, there's no such thing as a quick fix. No one else can do the work of change for you.

You should learn the basic concepts, but there is no 1-2-3, and everything's fixed. The mix of experiences and issues that comprise your life to date are not like anyone else's. The way in which you apply knowledge to your life that can lead you toward a greater awareness cannot be orchestrated by someone else.

So, seek knowledge, but know that it is not a complete meal like you get at a drive-thru. The knowledge others give you only provides the tools for you to create your own recipe for life — one that matches your taste!

Ah! Relationships. They can be a thing of joy, or they can be a thorn in your side. Having relationships with people who balance their needs with yours, who make you smile, who cry with you is like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

More often our relationships are superficial or adversarial. The superficial ones have minimal impact on our lives. It's the adversarial ones that challenge us the most, yet if we look for the gift in the relationship, the awakening it offers, we can make important decisions about our lives.

Most of these relationships are there because we need to face our "demons" or our erroneous thinking. Sometimes this requires staying and working through the feelings it evokes. Sometimes it means being courageous enough to walk away because staying would mean repeating a pattern we've allowed for so long. Is this considered running away? No. As long as we are mindful of why we are making our decision, it is simply choosing a better experience.

Sometimes the transition can be scary, even lonely, but be assured that trusting in your decision will carry you through to new experiences. Depending on the scope of your past experiences that the current relationship mirrors, your choice could even lead you to a whole new life!
