"Only the living are so persistent. The dead seem to understand that time is no longer an issue for them."
Brita is at best a reluctant psychic, and Chief of Police James Weston is the "poster boy for conservative." Can he accept the unimaginable?
Brita Madison has found a sanctuary in Williams, Arizona, a refuge from the multitude of visions and voices that have chased her all her life. Then one vision touches her soul, and she finds herself embroiled in the middle of a missing person's case with a woman’s life at stake. Little does she know that this is only the beginning.
Brita's visions uncover a trail of murders centered around the historic Route 66. As Brita steps deeper into the world she has been trying to escape, she and Weston are in a race against time to identify the serial killer. This journey threatens to tear apart their lives as well as those closest to them.

I love to read, especially books that are so good that I can lose myself in them. Chasing Shadows is a "page turner" for sure. I like how the story flows, grabs your attention from page 1 and keeps it all the way to the end! I'm especially excited that there is a 2nd book in the Brita Madison series. I can already tell that there should be more than 2 books and we will get to enjoy these characters for a long time! Starting on the 2nd book now ...

Hard To Put Down and A Riveting Story - "Well this was quite a ride, the action starts almost as soon as the book begins so there is no long buildup to get things started...So what we have here is a psychic murder mystery and you can guess how accepting police are going to be with that but it gets better . The serial killer is slippery and totally depraved but our perky little heroine is determined to help stop him but she has to get a bit of strength herself since she comes across as pretty fragile for the first 30-40% of the novel.
Her relationship with the Chief of Police, a random cab driver who lucky for her sees no problem with her gifts, along with a few others that come and go throughout the story. All things considered the secondary characters were done well and most were written more than cardboard cutouts. I did have a very small problem in a couple of instances with some very quick changes in POV but they are so minor the only reason I mention them is to let you know why it is not 5 Stars ... Let me make sure you realize that none of these things are showstoppers nor do they really detract from my enjoyment of the story, which managed a high stress level through a lot of the book which usually means a good story told well. Highly recommended and 4 Stars."

This novel is the epitome of what a Mystery should be. It will keep you guessing the entire way through. Just when you think you have something figured out, you will be shocked and surprised.
Wow, this one really delivers in many areas. It really was a fast paced mystery. I was really hooked from the get-go and wanted so bad to know where things will end up.

This is an in-depth mystery. It deals a lot in the actual procedures and actual processes that the police use in solving crimes. I thought that the detail to that was very well executed and added a whole extra level of believability to the novel.
Brita's abilities are something I have read about before but I think that this novel just really highlights them along with the way they can help the police. It reminds me of several movies like this novel, but reading a book is always better than a movie.

[This book] was one of the better mysteries I’ve read in a very long time. It was fast paced and really well written. Once I started reading I really wanted to find out the ending. It definitely left you guessing. I enjoy a mystery that isn’t really easy to figure out.
This book was well written and full of details that make it very believable. I enjoyed the main characters and Brita’s “gift”. Loved the way it was incorporated into crime solving. I highly recommend this if you are a fan of paranormal mysteries.

Oh my goodness what a ride this book was! It had me on my toes at every page. I normally don't like to read suspense/mystery novels because I'm a person whose heart jumps even at reading words, but it was worth the risk. I couldn't seem to put the book down. The action almost starts immediately after a few pages, and from there is nothing but twists and turns. The crime scenarios throughout the book had me on edge with how realistic they were, and I will admit that at times I was grossed out with how graphic they were, but that just added to the book's charm (charm isn't really the right word to describe crime, but it was the only word that came to mind). The characters were real, each of their personalities shined, and they made you feel right there with them. The one thing I loved that the author did was have sections of each chapter told through a different character's POV, even the antagonist's, giving the reader a chance to experience each character's thought and emotions. And by doing this, the reader also got a chance to experience each character's growth, especially Brita's.
Chasing Shadows will leave you wanting more, and it delivers more every time. It's such a great roller coaster ride of emotions, action, mystery, and the whole nine! And if you like reading paranormal suspense and crime novels, I suggest you strap in and prepare yourself for the wonderful excitement. I give this book 5 fangs and I'm so looking forward to the next Brita Madison Paranormal Mystery!
